Visual Basic Animated ScreenSaver Overview

Monday March 21, 2005
A few weeks back a reader wrote, asking if I could touch on making animated screensavers using Visual Basic. Now, I'm hardly VB-savvy, and I haven't even touched it since about 11th grade in high school, but I decided to take a crack at it anyway; instead I ended up finding out that the old adage of "if you don't use it, you lose it" is quite, quite true. I did, however, look up a great web resource, and from that compiled a bit of an overview of what's necessary to create an animated sprite screensaver using Visual Basic, with a link to the page that I summarized the original information from for more specific information.

Advanced VB programmers should have little trouble proceeding just from the overview, and writing their own functions based on the ideas. For more intermediate users, though, the link (and credit) to the original site is there to walk you through it a bit more and break things down.
