My friends, it has been a long, long weekend, and after lifting several metric tons of stuff that I didn't even know I owned, I had to take a breather and catch a flick last night. That flick was the much-anticipated
Serenity, the film to cap Joss Whedon's science-fiction television series
Firefly. Now you'd think, being an animator myself, I wouldn't be so critical of overuse of animated effects in films, but as previous rants have shown I can be rather difficult to please. Serenity, however, blew me away. Not just for the story--which I'll spare those of you who haven't seen the series--but for the
highly effective use of 3D animation to create the film's special effects and many of its environments.
Now that I'm done with hurricanes and relocations, things should settle back down to a regular update schedule around here and I can get back to those Flash lessons. I do believe we're waiting to start the simple audio lesson, correct? That should be coming up in the following week. Sorry for the delay, but unfortunately my sofa couldn't just pick up and walk itself down to my new place.
...though my back most certainly wishes it had.
