Flash Animation 25: Flash for Web: Simple Video Imports

Sunday January 29, 2006
You may want to get comfortable and make sure you've got a drink and snack nearby, because in this lesson we cover a lot of ground over the course of ten steps. For this lesson we're learning the how and why of the way video imports work in Flash, and how to place them in the web page that we've been designing for simple automatic playback without user controls (such as "pause" or "fast forward/rewind" buttons--those are a topic for our next lesson). Embedding video into your Flash web page doesn't work the same way that it would in an HTML web page, because Flash needs to incorporate the video into its timeline--but part of this lesson is learning how to do that without making a mess of your main stage's timeline.
