Making Your Own Flash Slingshot Target Game: III

Sunday July 16, 2006
Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, right? Bouncing squishies may not conform perfectly to basic laws of physics, but in order for our game to really be a game, we do need to create some kind of result/reaction when we fire a projectile and actually hit the target. In our first lesson we set up animations depicting the impact reaction, but haven't even looked at those segments of animation since--until now. Now we're going to use the hitTest function and an if statement--which we covered last week, and you will be very, very lost if you skipped that aside--to determine when the fired stone hits one of the unsuspecting rampaging squishies, and how it should react.
