Critical Security Upgrades to the Flash Player
Sunday April 13, 2008
Back in December we talked about major online security vulnerabilities caused by flaws in the Flash player, and the possibility of a patch in the future. Well, Adobe has finally released a new version that patches the vulnerabilities, available for download here. From the InfoWorld article, these vulnerabilities could allow an external user to execute malicious scripts through the Flash player, and affects over 90% of Windows hosts - so get your upgrades and get 'em now, or sit back and be smug that you're not running Windows (...until someone finds a vulnerability that affects the Mac OS or Linux).

No, but I’m saving up for a Lenovo Thinkpad x61 tablet PC. Is that a good choice?
In general, tablet PCs aren’t as good for art and animation purposes as an actual graphics tablet of any kind. The tablet PC is designed to be a touch screen that allows you to use contact-based input to navigate and accomplish various functions, and isn’t as focused on art/graphic design/animation functions. You’ll find fewer features, less pressure sensitivity, and fewer options and functions available in your graphics and animation programs. For some people, the minimum is enough; they just want to be able to draw on screen, without any fancy bells and whistles or extra sensitivity. But if you plan to use your tablet PC for that, make sure that it does have pressure sensitivity beyond just “Okay, there’s pressure, make a mark”. It’s usually good to have at least 512 levels of pressure sensitivity (and that’s a bare minimum) for artwork if you want to get anything resembling natural linework.
