Alternate Websites for Non-Flash Users

Sunday June 8, 2008
Another way to answer the usability and security problems Flash might bring to your website is to design an alternate that minimizes or completely removes the use of Flash, at the very least using code for the navigation so users without Flash or with slow connections don't have to deal with the hassle of figuring out how to navigate your site. Not as many websites are offering HTML / non-Flash versions now; for the most part the all-Flash craze has faded and designers have learned to incorporate Flash as an enhancement rather than overloading it, leaving websites navigable even with any of the embedded Flash animations disabled. For those of you who absolutely must have a full Flash website, though, it can be a kindness to your readers to offer an alternative that's easier for them to browse.
