Flash Tip: Exporting a Preview

Wednesday August 27, 2008
Recently I had a reader write me with a rather odd problem; for some reason his movie clips weren't playing in his Flash movie. After a series of questions in which we checked to make sure he didn't have any scripts stopping the movie clip or any botched tweens, he finally sent the file to me and let me take a look. The movie clips played just fine for me when I published a preview, so I wrote back and asked a few more questions. It turned out he'd been viewing his main timeline in Flash, with movie clips left static on the stage. He had no idea that you could publish a preview in Flash, allowing you to view the current publishable version of your content.
