ActionScripting Basics: Using getProperty and Dynamic Text to Display a Value

This lesson builds on this overview, which creates a Movie Clip and then creates a getProperty function to determine the value of the width of the Movie Clip. Once we’ve got the value, we’ve got to actually make use of it to do something; in this case we’re going to assign it to a variable, and then pass that variable on to another function.

That function is the text function, which can change the contents of a named dynamic text field to whatever text is assigned to the function.
