Adding Eyebrows

For something for you to do on your own, try adding in the eyebrows using the same technique; we don’t need to cover an entire lesson just for that. In this case, however, you can make just one eyebrow, and then add two instances to the scene with one flipped. The only reason that we needed two separate symbols for the eyes was because of the position of the eyeball, so he wouldn’t look too crosseyed.

With eyes and eyebrows, this is really starting to look more like an animated character and less like a strange blob with features and shadows. Next lesson we’ll start adding in the clothing, which will be at once easier and harder than the base body was; the lines themselves are simpler, but since I’ve got the collar of his coat there I’m going to show it moving with his motions. We’re saving the hair for last, partially because it will be the most difficult and partially because I’m not quite ready to pull my own hair out working on it yet.

So until then, get your facial features settled, and any additional details on your base body that we might not have covered. Start thinking about what clothing you’ve put on your character, and how you want it to move: maybe a flapping collar, or just a few creases pulling and loosening.
