After the last lesson you should have retraced the lines for your animated character’s clothing, using the Pen Tool in the same fashion that we retraced the head and features.

Now we’re going to fill in the color on the clothing, but instead of just blocking in solid colors and adding highlights and shadows, we’re going to use gradients for some of the shading. For my animation, I’m going to use a gradient to add highlights to Shinji’s black leather coat.
