Flash Tip: Bitmap Fills

Although we’ve already gone over the Color Mixer panel in brief, there’s one particular aspect of that panel that I’d like to explore in detail: the Bitmap Fill. The bitmap fill lets you use any kind of raster artwork (JPEG, GIF, BMP, or any other image format supported by Flash) as a shape fill, the same way that you’d use a solid color from the Color Picker.

To demonstrate this, start off with a simple shape (I just threw a quick circle onto the stage, with the Oval Tool), and then click with the Arrow Tool to select the shape’s fill. Make sure that you have an image imported into your library first; any image will do.
