On a layer underneath your linework, paint in solid color fills, making sure to keep separate fills for each area that you want to be able to flood-fill individually. (For instance, even though I painted the torso and the left arm (his right) in the same color, I made sure to keep the edges of the fills from touching where they’re hidden by the linework, so they can be selected individually.) The actual colors chosen don’t matter; this is just so you can see the fills and make sure that everything is colored in solidly.
