Completing Your Animation

With one button done, all that remains is to create animations for each of the other options. To reiterate the steps:
  1. Draw the object to be animated.
  2. Make it into a Graphic symbol.
  3. Then insert the Graphic symbol into a MovieClip symbol.
  4. Edit the Movie Clip and create your animation, with stops in the first and last frames to prevent automatic play and to prevent repeats of the animation.
  5. On the main stage, assign a name to the instance of the Movie Clip.
  6. Right-click on the button that you want to associate with the Movie Clip, select Actions, and add the command to go to and play the Movie Clip's timeline, changing the name to reflect the correct instance.

Once you've animated all of the options for one scene and linked them to the appropriate buttons, you'll need to do the same for your second scene. If your options are the same but just need a little bit of tweaking, you can save yourself a bit of time and just duplicate the movie clip symbols, renaming them and then editing the animation on their timelines before assigning new instance names and linking them to the appropriate buttons.

My completed snowman animation is here. Play with a little to see how you can add the various elements in whatever order you choose, controlled by the buttons.
