Creating a New Symbol as a Video Container

Remember when I said in step one that we can't just drag and drop our movies straight from the library onto the stage on a single frame? That was true, but false--because what we're going to use movie clips to find a way around that limitation, so that we can display our video on a single page without having to extend the timeline on our main stage to accommodate it.

Usually when we create a new symbol, we're selecting an object that already exists and turning it into a symbol. This time, we're going to create an empty symbol and then add our video while inside its individual stage. Go to Insert->New Symbol, and enter a name for the new symbol. Make sure to set its behavior as a Movie Clip, and then click OK. By default we'll be taken to the editing stage "inside" the blank movie clip.
