Field

By Adrien-Luc Sanders, About.com

Definition: In animation, a "field" can be one of two things:

1. The interlacing lines of video that comprise the entire picture displayed on a television screen; or,
The actual visible range of the drawings captured by the camera, similar in scope to a field of vision. Animation field sizes tend to be standard based on typical aspect ratios.
