Light Table

By Adrien-Luc Sanders, About.com

Definition: A light table is essentially any flat surface that allows light to shine through from beneath in order to allow images to be visible when laid atop one another. Commercial light tables can range from small battery or plug-in tracer boxes or photo light boxes to high-end full-size tables with additional custom features designed for animators. Homemade light tables can be as simple as a plywood box, a glass or clear plastic sheet, and an internal light source.
