Render

By Adrien-Luc Sanders, About.com

Definition: Used to refer to the process of creating computer-generated images from a series of mathematical calculations defined by a user's specifications. To "render" a digital scene, the program would take into account the user's settings for lighting, the various planes and dimensions of the objects created in the digital space and how they reflect that lighting, and any other environmental factors as viewed by virtual "cameras"; all of this would be composited into a final image or video.
