A. While at first glance it might seem that there are dozens of computer animation software packages that all do exactly the same thing, at a closer look that is very far from true. First, some computer animation software is designed specifically for 2D animation, while others are designed specifically for 3D animation; within those two categories, the various software packages can be further subdivided by purpose and functionality. Because computer animation can be applied to such a wide range of purposes, often it benefits developers or industry professionals to develop their own software package that contains specific tools to meet their needs along with the basic functionality considered "standard" for the type of application.
