Some like to show a difference between internal lines and external lines, as well. External lines are generally the lines tracing the basic shapes of the drawing, defining the key parts, while internal lines show little details like the seams in clothing – and like Vin’s scars. This shows more solid weight to the actual shape itself, by contrasting the heavier external lines with the thinner detail lines.
