Flash Tip: Letter Spacing

By Adrien-Luc Sanders, About.com

Sometimes the font you choose for text in Flash will have just the right look, but the default spacing for the letters will be too close together or too far apart. It's actually pretty easy to fix that. There's a section under the Text menu at the top of the stage that says Letter Spacing > and expands into three options:
  • Increase (PC shortcut Ctrl+Alt+Right Arrow):Increases the amount of space between each character / letter so they're set farther apart.
  • Decrease (PC shortcut Ctrl+Alt+Left Arrow): Reduces the amount of space between each character / letter so they're set closer together.
  • Reset(PC shortcut Ctrl+Alt+Up Arrow): If you just can't get it right even after increasing and decreasing, reset your letter spacing to default and start over again.
Using any of these with your target text box selected will adjust all text within the box.
