Sqirlz Morph 2.1

The Bottom Line

Squirlz Morph is an unremarkable, forgettable entry into basic image animation software, but it's not bad, either.

  • Installs quickly and cleanly.
  • Free. Can't beat that.
  • Prompts with helpful tooltips.

  • Interface is simplistic to the point of being annoying.
  • Doesn't offer many options to customize morphing.
  • Only supports JPG and BMP imports.

  • Morphs one image into another, with animated effects.
  • Exports to Flash format for easy web upload.
  • Also allows AVI, GIF, and image sequence exports.

Guide Review - Sqirlz Morph 2.1

If I had to describe Sqirlz Morph 2.1, I'd call it...cute, but entirely unnecessary. It doesn't really offer anything new in a market that's already saturated with free and trial programs that do its job in a much cleaner, more intuitive fashion. Yes, it morphs images from one to the other and exports to Flash format - but when you see the end result, you may ask why you even bothered.

Normally I laud simplicity in design, but Sqirlz (I keep wanting to type Squirlz) Morph 2.1 is a little too simple in its Windows 3.1-style interface - yet it still manages to be too complicated where it matters. There are just a few too many steps in what should be a simple point-and-click experience, some that don't make sense as an intuitive process.

While I wouldn't call Sqirlz Morph 2.1 a bad program, it's an essentially useless one. 3.0 stars for making a program that works, and that does what it says it will do (for free). But I'd advise using something cleaner, more professionally designed, with better functionality.

Simple yet useful., Member pat8

I was looking for a free animator when I stumbled upon the review for this. It's easy to install and runs well. It may not be industry standard, but it's good if you want to create small animations. It's unimpressive and hard in spots, yet I enjoy it. The image at the bottom was used to make a GIF animation showing swinub eating made with Squirlz (Yes, I still like Pokemon). I would suggest it for anyone wanting a free program.
