My partner always knows to check my art supplies or the latest animation software releases when planning what to get me for the holidays. What are you buying for the animator on your holiday gift list? Animation-related gifts, or something else? What Are You Gifting?

I also need help

I'm twelve and I want to animate. I have VERY little money. Any ideas?

Suggestions for Nancy

Nancy, for a 12-year-old, Toon Boom's Flip Boom might be a good place to start for the very basics (and it's cheap, too): http://animation.about.com/od/softwarereviews/gr/flipboomreview.htm It's also a little primitive and may be a couple of years below her age level. If she needs something more advanced but still good for beginners, Anime Studio Debut may also work: http://animation.about.com/od/softwarereviews/gr/animestudiodebutreview.htm There's also TAB Manga, which is a bit of a middle ground, though personally I find the navigation difficult and frustrating (and it's a bit pricey): http://animation.about.com/od/softwarereviews/gr/tabmangareview.htm Hope this helps.

Animation Programs

Either Adobe Flash or ToonBoom studio. Both are great 2D animating programs. If she's serious maybe even a wacom tablet to draw on the computer.

Need Animator Help

My niece 12 yo was showing me some animated characters that she had drawn free hand. I was AMAZED. She is very good. I knew she has always been interested in art but for 12 yo she is very good. I am looking for an animated software for her to use on her PC. Any suggestions?
