ActionScripting Basics: View Line Numbers

Most coders are used to working with line numbers in order to reference a specific line of code; I know the first time I remember hearing about line numbers was when programming in BASIC, which was already obsolete by the time I took my first computer science class (c’mon, folks, I’m not that old). At this point I’ve been through so many programming languages that I can’t remember how to use a GOTO to save my life, let alone make those nifty little random pixel animations—but I can remember that being able to view line numbers in your code is extremely helpful when debugging or when tracking various functions in your ActionScripts.

View Line Numbers can be found under the same little blue arrow that lets you switch between Normal and Expert modes. Just click on it to expand the menu, then click View Line Numbers.
