Listener

Definition: A listener is a Flash ActionScript object that, like its name implies, "listens" for certain events. When a defined event--the press of a certain key, the click of the mouse in an area of the stage, a user-input event, countless others--occurs, a callback is sent to the listener, which is usually then used to trigger another series of events defined by functions.
